The ZENN is a real car. The body is made in France , by MICROCAR. In Europe, MICROCAR is a diesel powered highway vehicle. The ZENN has keys, dual mirrors, turn signals, windshield washer fluid and many other "normal" car features. The LX version even has remote keyless entry.

There are, however, several innovative features:
• Because the ZENN is built to NEV standards, it does not have air bags.

• On the LX, the windows automatically open a little when you open the door. The doors close more easily when the air can escape. Once closed, the windows automatically roll up again.

• Forward and reverse are selected with an easy-to-reach switch in the center of the car. There is not a standard "shifter." When parking, you must employ the hand brake.

• The ZENN is equipped with a back-up alarm.

• The ZENN is so quiet, people and animals may not notice you. Seeing them is easy because of the great visibility you have from inside the ZENN.

• Since it is a small car, the ZENN does not need power steering.
