A Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV) is a low-speed electric vehicle (LSV) with a top speed of 25 miles per hour. NEVs are required to stay on roads with a posted speed limit of 35 miles per hour or less. ZENN meets or exceeds all the U.S. safety standards of LSV (FMVSS500). Originally, LSV were oversized golf carts, usually seen in retirement communities. Now, ZENN has brought a true automotive body to the LSV market. NEVs are great alternative travel solutions for people on the move. They are perfect for driving in and around city centers, master planned communities, resorts, industrial and college campuses and military bases. They are also a great first car for young, new drivers because of the slower speeds and limited routes that parents prefer. No tailpipe emissions make an NEV a great indoor/outdoor vehicle for warehouses and maintenance department use. With a cost of just pennies per mile (about 56 cents per full charge in Minneapolis--only 2¢ per mile!), by using an NEV for local driving and errands you can considerably cut down on fuel costs. Especially since short errands are the most inefficient trips for gasoline powered cars.
